America is now faced with unprecedented and complex challenges that our Founding Fathers neither experienced nor envisioned. Inasmuch as the United States has enjoyed economic prosperity and growth for much of its recent history, we now are confronted with a prolonged economic recession, weakened credit and financial markets, and intensified global competition.
